Oversize Canvas by Banksy: "Dream Big Dreams"

A client brought in a canvas that had been created by the British mural / graffiti artist known only as "Banksy". Banksy's identity is, as yet, unknown, but he has done murals, outdoor wall art and graffiti all over Europe. The canvas that Nolan, our client, brought in was 70 x 70 inches in size and needed to be both stretched and framed. We designed it to be stretched on a 2" deep gallery wrap stretcher and then we chose the Larson-Juhl silver-over-black "Spencer" collection floater frame in which to frame it.

Floater frames are ideal for large, contemporary canvases, as they do not have a lip that overlaps the canvas. In fact, usually, when we frame in a floater we add about 1/4 to 3/8" of space between the canvas and the frame, giving it a "floating" look (hence, the name). We have dozens of floater frames to choose from, so why not consider framing your big canvas in one of them? It looks more finished when you get it up on the wall and protects the edges of the canvas.
