Oak Street Beach 5.5 x 17" vertical print by Steve Slaske
Chicago artist Steve Slaske sketches everywhere he goes. In fact, he has been doing this for so long that he has amassed a large collection of drawings done in pen and ink with watercolor washes that catalog and chronicle the many amazing views of cities around the country and the world that he has visited. Since we are a Chicago-based frame shop, we show you, here, some of our favorite images by Steve that depict iconic Chicago views. All prints are signed and numbered editions and are 17 x 5.5" (5.5 x 17" if vertical) in size (with one exception) and are sold, here, unframed. This print shows the view of Oak Street Beach looking south toward the famous Drake Hotel, the Palmolive Building (behind the Drake) and, rising like a dark obelisk, The John Hancock Building (now simply referred to as 875 N. Michigan Avenue since the naming rights changed in the recent past). The short stretch of residential high rises along this part of the "S" curve on Lake Shore Drive is known as East Lake Shore Drive and has some very exclusive residential apartments with fabulous views looking north over Lake Michigan and Lake Shore Drive.
