This panorama of Chicago was taken by James Blakeway. It features a stunning twilight view of downtown Chicago as you approach it from the North along the Kennedy Expressway. Chicago is the center of the third largest metropolitan area in the United States. The three tallest buildings in the United States are, at left, The John Hancock Building, the Trump Tower and the Willis Tower (formerly The Sears Tower), with its pronounced twin antennas. Chicago's skyline is considered on of the world's most impressive, along with New York City and Hong Kong.Chicago is the city where the skyscraper was invented in the late 19th century. Ultimately, Chicago became a major port and the industrial, commercial, financial and cultural center of The Midwestern United States.
