Ruth Bader Ginsburg's Rare Decorative Collar For Her Supreme Court Robe
A client of ours brought in a decorative collar that was worn over the US Supreme Court robe of none other than Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Our client worked for Justice RBG at one point in her career and was close to her. We wish to preserve her privacy and will just say that our primary concern was with how to preserve it and show it off to its best advantage. Our framer, Kelly, was tasked with framing this very rare artifact by a repeat client for whom she had done previous work.
In order to display it properly, and since it had pearls attached to it, a shadowbox-depth frame was selected. The hue of the metal leafing on the frame picked up on the colors that appear in the pearls. Justice Ginsburg had a great sense of style and for this, among other things, she was quite beloved. Kelly carefully sewed the collar down, using a suede shadowbox to hold the collar. The strong Federal Blue color of the shadowbox contrasts well with the collar and the frame. She used Museum Glass to glaze the frame, thereby protecting the collar from the damaging rays of the sun and any other ultra-violet light that may shine upon it. The shadowbox was 21 x 14 1/2" inside. The frame is a Larson-Juhl L294113 "Alloy" Champagne I (color) wood frame.

We love to frame historical artifacts of this kind, much like what you might see in a museum. Bring us whatever keepsakes, collectibles or precious items you wish to be able to view on your wall, even if they only have meaning for you and no monetary value. If you have an emotional connection to an item, let us frame it and make it something you can enjoy daily.
