The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Presentation Frames
Whenever a performer appears at Chicago's Auditorium Theatre (2 blocks south of our frame shop), the management at the "Aud" presents the performer with a collage frame we create as a memento of their gig their. We have done this for them for a number of years, starting with Bob Dylan and, most recently, with Stephen Colbert, whose Late Show is broadcast live. He was in Chicago broadcasting his show live for 4 nights during the DNC (Democratic National Convention) this past August, 2024. The frame we used to do this was a ready made by MCS / Framatic. it is 24 x 20 and we designed a triple mat for it and the brand new logo that the "Aud" had designed for it. We used, for the top and bottom mat, Crescent 5598 Etched Black. The middle mat is a yellow-orange mat called 9519 Curry.
The four tickets, on the right, sit on top of the bottom black layer of matting, so we have only cut openings in the top two layers there. The logo and photo of the Auditorium interior are cut through all three layers of matting. We created 3 of these frames, presumably one for Stephen and the others for two of his production company's management. The staff at The Auditorium inscribed them on the back with a gold paint marker, thanking Stephen and his team for performing there.
It just so happens that Brian Flax and his wife were there on the Wednesday of that week and had an amazing time. The actual live show did not start until 11:30 pm when the DNC ended for the day and it ran one hour, which included a guest visit by Pete Buttigieg, the Secretary of Transportation and performance in the back half of the show by Chance The Rapper (for whom we have framed, along with his dad). They had 3 huge jumbo-tron screens above and flanking the stage, so we got to sit and watch the DNC for 3 hours with nearly 4000 of our closest friends. It was very loud, but amazing and very uplifting. We are most grateful to the staff at The Auditorium for making those incredible seats available for us. Thank you!
