Octagonal Shadowbox Replacement Frame
Our client had a collection of cast silver ornaments from Turkey that were framed in an octagonal, dark Mahogany-stained, wood frame. Only problem: The frame was in terrible shape and falling apart. We agreed to build her a new one, with a new mat and Ultra-Vu, antireflective glazing. We also had to put a spacer in between the mat and the backing board upon which the ornaments were mounted. Dana, our framing team manager, designed and executed this beauty. She used a Studio 4934 "Forte" Mahogany frame moulding and cut each of the angles to allow for an octagonal frame. The mat used was Artique 4882 "Talcum". It required 9 windows cut in a circular pattern, just like the original.
