Batik Pillowcase From Zimbabwe

Our client is well traveled and brought this back from Zimbabwe. We designed a very special shadowbox that showcased the batiked pillowcase. Frame consists of Studio 74702 Miore Black Lacquer, with a Fotiou 5541RD Red lacquer on the inside. Glass is Museum glass, which keeps it from fading and has a 99% u/v protection. Glass size is 22 1/2 x 22 1/2" and the shadowbox is 2 1/8" deep. Inside is lined with Crescent 5506 Night Sky black suede. It is hard to see, but the pillowcase has been sewn onto a piece of black core/ black suede matting that is slightly bigger than the pillowcase, with a beveled edge on the mat board. There is a riser underneath it and it is anchored in the middle of a deep, black, suede shadowbox that allows for the pillowcase to come up out of the mat and end just below the glass of the frame. Note that we stacked the red Fotiou lacquer inside the rabbet of the Black Miore lacquered outer frame.
