 Minneapoli-based photographer James Blakeway and his staff travel the world over, photographing the most dramatic skylines wherever they go. Very often, they are shot from a helicopter, so the work is challenging. The weather and light have to be just right and they often need the permission of local air traffic authorities to accomplish this. James has assembled a great group of shots of our dramatic Chicago skyline. 

Chicago, Illinois

This is a shot taken from a helicopter by world-traveling photographer James Blakeway. It is taken from the lake, looking West at Chicago's picturesque skyline, with Navy Pier and the Jardine Water Filtration Plant in the foreground. This shot is printed in black & white. Like all his posters, they are 40" long, 13 1/2" tall. There are no ready-made frames this size or shape. However, you can buy these prints from us unframed and shipped rolled in a tube, or framed in a slender, black metal frame with glass.

Chicago, Illinois - Series 2

Shot at sundown on a calm, clear, summer's night, Chicago's skyline comes alive. The lively and well-lit amusement park at Navy Pier is shown in the foreground. Printed on heavy white stock, it measures 40" long by 13 1/2" tall.

Chicago, Illinois- Series 3

Like Series 2, this is a shot of the Chicago Skyline at Dusk or just after sundown. However, this is a winter shot with a frozen lake in the foreground. Despite the cold, it is still a pretty amazing skyline no matter what time of the year you view it and from where you do so. Printed on heavy white stock, the print measures 40" long by 13 1/2" tall. You can buy it unframed or framed. Framing is a thin black metal, with the print mounted permanently, all covered in regular glass. 

Chicago, Illinois- Series 5 

 This is a daytime shot by James Blakeway, as viewed from a helicopter looking West from out over the lake. In the foreground, from left to right is Monroe Harbor, Navy Pier and the Jardine Water Filtration plant.

Chicago, Illinois-Series 6

Shot from further south than the other prints above, this panoramic print shows off one of Chicago's crown jewels: The Museum Campus. Projecting out into the lake is the John G. Shedd Aquarium, with the Oceanarium added to the East end of the building (houses Beluga Whales and dolphins). Also nearby is the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History. Just south of there is Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears, McCormick Place Convention Center and the site of what we all hope will be the Chicago 2016 Summer Olympics. Size: 40" long, 13 1/2" tall.

Chicago, Illinois-Series 7

Taken at sunset on a crisp, couldless day, this Blakeway panorama is taken from the North, looking south towards downtown Chicago from somewhere out above the Kennedy Expressway. This is what you would see driving in from O'Hare airport. Seen at left is the silhouette of the John Hancock Building and, at right, the Sears Tower, two of Chicago's tallest structures. Size: 40" long, 13 1/2" tall.

Chicagoland Speedway

While not located in Chicago, proper, the Chicagoland Speeway is in south suburban Joliet and is the Official NASCAR track in Illinois. It's a newer track that is quite popular with Midwestern racing enthusiasts. It is, also, 40" long, 13 1/2" tall, available framed or unframed.
